Editing and advertising!

Going to be a little quiet on the blog for the next day or two, as I’m incorporating my editor’s changes into the book and finalizing formatting for the three different versions of the book that will be coming out. After that, I’ll be working on a lot of advertising issues, etc. But I’m going to do my best to still update somewhat regularly. Today I want to share the first piece of advertising, a banner ad courtesy of the talented Ryan Bibby. This banner will be going up on a few sites on 12/1, with another version showing up on this site. I love Ryan’s work, so I wanted another chance to show it off:

    I like the banner ad. Very attention grabbing. Speaking of advertising, I notice considerably more ads on your page now, and I know that with WordPress.org, you can get paid if people click on certain ads. Is that what you’re doing? Do you have any control over what ads appear?

      Thanks! Really? I haven’t seen a single ad yet. I signed up with Google advertising, but figured something wasn’t going right. I wonder why you’re seeing them and I’m not. Could you take a screenshot and show me? The reason I ask is yeah, I do have some control over what appears and wanted to see if I could fine-tune as the ads show up. I mean, yes, it’s partially about monetizing to help offset server costs, but I’d also like to help give authors and books a boost through advertising on the site.

    • Oh now I see them – checked it in IE. Holy moley! Going to have to fine-tune that.

    How exciting! I like the banner–I’m at almost the same place with my book–it will arrive any day and I will need to proof the final copy–I love hearing about the process and would like any tips on marketing if you have a mind to talk about that on your blog–good luck with the final edit!
